American Government

Mr. Ackerman
American Government is
an overview of the structure and functions of government in the United States and its impact on its citizens, other nations, and a global economy.
Special attention will be given to individual involvement and responsibility of American citizens with regards to government. This class will incorporate a variety of teaching and learning methods, and will focus
on classes that utilize lectures, note taking and reading comprehension. Various
projects will be assigned to specific units of study as well, utilizing both individual and collaborative decision making.
Expectation: Any behavior,
which distracts from the active learning environment of the class will not be tolerated.
Come to class prepared with any and all materials needed for the class and be in your seat, ready for class when the
bell rings. Class starts at 8:10.

Attendance: Attendance and
active participation in class is vital to successful completion of the class. It
is the student’s responsibility to acquire any make up assignments or notes while absent. For excused absences students must get assignments turned in within one day. Any test missed with an excused absence must be made up the first day back.
Assignments, quizzes, projects, reports or tests, not taken or turned in due to an unexcused absence will not be made
up and no credit given. In accordance to school policy, a student will be dropped
from the class with six unexcused absences. Three unexcused tardies shall equal
one unexcused absence.
